The Council of the Malta Football Association has approved a request by the Malta Amateur Football Association to regain its membership with the parent body.
However, the amateur association is only recognised on a provisional basis so far. This is because the affiliation has to be endorsed during a general meeting of the MFA, according to its statute.
Thus MAFA has returned to the MFA fold after a long absence of 14 years when relations were severed to the extent that MAFA broke away from the parent body.
In a statement yesterday, MAFA said it was now inviting amateur teams to apply to take part in its leagues.
All those interested are notified that 13 August is the closing date for applications. They have to contact the secretary general, David Abdilla on Mob. No. 7900-0099.
