The General Workers’ Union (GWU) yesterday reiterated its decision of lifting the industrial action at state health institutions only on the day when the government and the union are due to meet.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Central Committee of nursing aides, health assistants and care workers within the Government and Public Entities Section. The union informed the government about its decision and pointed out that the section was ready to meet the government anytime for negotiations.

The GWU said a solution suitable to all parties had to be found shortly; thus it insisted that the meeting should take place as soon as possible.

The industrial action was ordered by the GWU in its bid to upgrade all nursing aides to salary scale 13, obtain an adequate premium for health assistants, care workers and assistant care workers and a better roster system.
