The Labour Party believed that much more needed to be done to achieve the aims of the EU’s Lisbon strategy, especially in the education sector and to improve the participation rate of young people, particularly young women, in the world of work, Labour leader Alfred Sant told representatives of the National Youth Council at a meeting they had with him.
The MLP appreciated the important activities the NYC was carrying out, he said. During the meeting, the NYC representatives presented to Dr Sant a document drawn up to mark the EU’s 50th anniversary. Dr Sant presented the NYC with a copy of the MLP’s Plan for a New Beginning, which incorporates all the Labour Party’s plans in all sectors, including that of young people.
