The IT and Investment Ministry has issued a statement in reaction to the application for a prohibitory injunction filed in court by the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises yesterday.

In the statement, the ministry said that instead of accepting a previous decision by the court on the issue of a prohibitory injunction with regard to a call for tender submissions for the provision of computers, the GRTU has filed another application in court, citing frivolous arguments.

In a court decision dated 27 July, the court had decided that the GRTU had no right to lay down what it deemed should be the specifications of a public call for provision when the government decides to do so.

The ministry said it was clear that the GRTU was trying to use the courts to obtain a provisional prohibitory injunction in order to lengthen the selection process. The ministry also said that it was shameful to try and put obstacles in the path of a process which began a year ago and is intended to replace some 6,000 school computers with new and modern equipment before the next scholastic year begins.
