Thanksgiving Masses

Malta Independent Thursday, 9 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 18 years ago

The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Felix del Blanco Prieto, will lead two concelebrated Masses of thanksgiving, one in Gozo and another in Malta, to mark the end of his service here after being appointed Elemosiniere of Pope Benedict XVI.

The two events are being organised by the Bishop of Gozo and the Archbishop. As Elemosiniere, Mgr del Blanco Prieto will carry out charitable acts in the name of the Pope, through modest donations to the poor.

The Mass in Gozo will be celebrated at the Cathedral in Victoria tomorrow at 7.15pm. In Malta it will be celebrated at St John’s co-Cathedral in Valletta on 19 August at 6pm.

Mgr del Blanco Prieto was born in Morgovejo, Leon, Spain on 15 June 1937.

He was ordained in 1961, was made bishop in 1991, and appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Malta in 2003.
