Malta is endowed with architectural treasures that reflect the different facets of its stories and our parish churches are part of this treasure, said Resources and Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit while visiting the parvis of Our Lady of Lourdes church in San Gwann.

The work, which is being carried out by government employees, included the replacement of the pavement surrounding the church and the nearby convent. The area will also benefit from a new lighting system that will illuminate the façade of the church at night.

The design of the paving will reflect the architectural style of the church and the project cost around Lm38,000 (EUR88,516).

The parvis’ steps and the illumination system will be in place before the summer is out.

Minister Zammit said during the last few years, the government carried out a number of projects according to a strategic plan in order to embellish and rehabilitate certain architectural treasures.
