Birkirkara’s girls suffered a disastrous defeat in their debut in the UEFA Women’s Cup on Thursday when they suffered a 16-0 defeat at the hands of Bardolino of Italy.

It was the fourth largest margin of victory in the tournament’s history.

Five of the goals were scored by Melania Gabbiadini.

In the same Group, Spain’s Athletic Club BFKEB, who will meet Bardolino on Matchday 3 on Tuesday, overcame Slovenian hosts ŽNK KRKA Novo Mesto 4-0 with goals in the final 22 minutes.
