A seaplane service was launched yesterday during a media event that took place at Diga Nicoletti, a lake near Enna. Within a month this service will connect Enna, Palermo, Syracuse, the Aeolian Islands, Tunisia and Malta.
This service, a first for Sicily, is offered by Aqua Airlines, a company registered in Milan.
The plane carries between eight and 18 passengers and a second seaplane is scheduled to go into service in September.
The cost of a one-way ticket from Enna to Palermo including the hire of a car on arrival is EUR80, to Malta EUR120, and EUR90 to Syracuse. It will take 40 minutes to fly to the Aeolian Islands.
