Budget brand Tjaereborg suffered a fall in business again this year but package hotels chief Dierk Berlinghoff stressed that there were no plans to abandon the operator.

The budget operator is dropping Cyprus and Malta for the winter as destinations but has added the Dominican Republic as its only long-haul destination. All long-haul holidays were dropped last year due to lack of profitability. Overall, Tjaereborg will only offer 117 hotels this winter compared to 141 last year.
