Marcel Dingli said that only the AN is pro-life.

Nothing is further from the truth. AN is just resorting to the same old tricks the government and the Opposition have used before. Looking at how Tonio Borg used the pro-life proposal to bring in votes is an example of how low our politicians will go for votes. If the government was so keen to give unborn babies the right to life, they should have proposed the IVF law by now.

This was an issue that even the MLP would surely agree to. Yet the government did nothing with this law, leaving the option for cloning open in Malta.

The government wants to present a budget for the family in October. If the government and the Opposition are truly in favour of the family, then surely they would have worked hard together to have this important law passed.

Instead, Gonzi wants votes and seems to have abandoned the unborn baby cause. I thought he was a man of principle. How can one talk about the family and forget the foetus?

All three parties are flip-flopping on this to get votes. At least we know where the lobby group Greens stand on this. If they ever get elected, they will bring divorce and homosexual marriages. Look on the bright side, at least we will have more birds in the sky now that the government has given more rights to the bird than to the baby.

If politicians cannot even agree on these simple basic principles and see them as crucial social values to protect, we are in for painful political times ahead.

I urge the government to set a date for the general election and to make it public soon so I can book the cheapest flight out of Malta to escape the senseless madness that is Maltese politics.
