2007 Road race national champion Etienne Bonello of Team Greens re-confirmed his time trial title after an outstanding performance at Mriehel bypass.

The third and final race in the time trial championship was contested on a distance of 25 kilometres. The race turned to be an interesting battle between the top riders as they were set off at one minute intervals to cover the race distance as fast as they could.

Bonello was the fastest on the day as he showed exceptional pedalling style and technique apart from being aided by an excellent form and determination. He clocked 37.18, 58 seconds better than Mosta AF Sign Studio Johann Vassallo, Team Greens Fabio Spiteri was third in a time of 39:05 minutes.

With this final race Bonello won his third time trial title with 575 points followed by Maurice Formosa (Mosta) with 455 points and Steve Sciberras (Mosta) with 380 points.

Luigi Mifsud (Mosta) was the best Junior followed by Max Brincat (Mosta).

Danica Spiteri (Team Greens) reconfirmed her ladies' title trial championship followed by Stephania Magri (Team Greens) and Michelle Wood (Mosta).

James Dimech (Mosta) was first amongst the under 15 followed by team mates Stephen Behan and Daniel Borg.

In the Masters Category Emmauel Bezzina (Mosta) took the title followed Nicky Farrugia (Mosta) and Brian Magri (Team Greens).

Charles Sammut (Team Greens) was the strongest amongst the Over 50s. Qormi KIA flag beares Alfred Camilleri and Philip Borg finished second and third respectively.

The championship was made possible with help of Centrepoint cycles, the Police force and St James Ambulance.

The Malta Cycling Federation thanked all the club officials, volunteers and cyclists who contributed to another successful racing season.

Later on this summer the Malta Cycling Federation will hold its annual presentation ceremony where the stars of the season will be rewarded for their achievements.
