GO has recently supported the Scout Association of Malta and provided broadband internet connections for Scouting Sunrise – an international celebration to mark the centenary of scouting worldwide.

Linked to the rest of the world via GO’s fast broadband internet services, the local scouting community joined forces with scout associations in over two hundred countries around the world to mark a hundred years of scouting.

Thousands of scouts in Malta met at the Granaries in Floriana to celebrate Scouting Sunrise and had the time of their lives taking part in various activities. Those who opted to join in the fun of Jamboree on the Internet enjoyed communicating with their counterparts around the world. Furthermore, as a result of an online connection with the Centenary Jamboree site in the UK, the youngsters were given the unique opportunity to join 40,000 scouts from all over the world gathered in Hylands Park, and together renew their scout’s promise. A dream became a reality for the scouts when they witnessed the symbolical kudu horn-blowing ceremony at Brownsea Island in the UK, the site of the first ever scout camp.

GO has responded positively to a request from the Malta Scouts’ Association Marsa Group and will be contributing towards the purchase of tents for the group’s outdoor activities.
