Customers who have applied for the HD trial during the summer have started enjoying the true quality of HD transmissions, as Melita Cable has commenced the installation of HD boxes. This is the prelude to the official launch of HD services by Melita, which is ear-marked for December.
During the trial, Melita Digital subscribers will be provided by an additional set-top box and a range of HD channels to choose from. High definition television (HDTV) offers images that have up to four times the number of pixels as conventional television, allowing near-cinematic picture quality and incorporating a richer stereo sound.
Customers can watch National Geographic, the History Channel and select games from the Premier League and Serie A during the trial. Negotiations are underway to add more HD channels and more sports content in HD format.
“We are very pleased to have been the first company in Malta to launch an HD service,” said sales and marketing manager Franco de Gabriele.
“HD provides an incredible viewing experience that will certainly be appreciated by the Maltese market. It is the first of many steps that the company has initiated to improve the quality of service. Melita continues to be committed to provide cutting edge services that are in demand,” he concluded.
The HD trial comes to an end on 31 October. Customers interested in HD service can apply via the Melita Cable website on www.melitacable.com
