The Nationalist Party College of Councillors said the Labour mayor of Mtarfa, Josephine Abela, had lost the majority in the council which voted 3-2 against her on a vote by means of which she sought to employ as council executive secretary a person who was not qualified for the position.
Even a Labour councillor voted against the proposal, the college said.
The PN councillors, the college added, had gone through experiences aimed at humiliating them. They had not been given financial documents, meetings were held when the mayor knew they could not attend, and details were omitted from the minutes of work the councillors had done.
The whole matter showed how arrogant the Labour Party was, the college said. Instead of working for the locality and the residents, Labour wanted to impose their will to give advantage to their party.
