Employees with a number of local councils have joined the General Workers’ Union, which has grouped them in its section for professional, financial and services employees.
The councils have informed the union they were recognising it as the employees’ representative.
In other councils where the majority are not GWU members, the GWU said it would be representing the employees individually.
