Resources and Infrastruc-ture Minister Ninu Zammit filed libel suits against Opposition Leader Alfred Sant, General Workers’ Union daily newspaper l-orizzont and the editor of Labour Party media One News yesterday over comments made about him.

Mr Zammit filed the libel suits in respect of a speech by Dr Sant and the related reports published and broadcast in the newspaper and news bulletin regarding the compensation he received for a plot of land he owned in Zurrieq, measuring 187 square metres, that had been expropriated by the government.

Mr Zammit claimed that what had been said and published was defamatory and exposed him to public ridicule.

Dr Joseph Zammit Maempel and Dr Michael Tanti Dougal signed the libel suits.
