Following the recent fires at Bahrija, the Malta Environment & Planning Authority is setting up patrols in the area. The aim of these patrols is to reduce the possibility of such fires recurring and, in case they do start, to ensure as timely an intervention as possible. The destruction caused by fires lit through carelessness can wreak havoc on endemic flora and fauna.
The public is encouraged to call MEPA emergency numbers (outside office hours) in the case of illegal development and environmental damage.
