Romance In Valletta

Malta Independent Sunday, 19 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Valletta Romantika was the theme of the fifth Friday in this year’s BOV Streets Alive programme. This event highlighted Valletta as a romantic place to be in the evenings. Thousands of candles adorned three streets in Valletta namely St John’s, St Ursula and Sta Lucia as well as the Victoria Gate Bridge according to the design of artist David Bonello. This event was organised in collaboration with the Ghaqda Pawlini. The catering outlets in the area served food and drink to all those who wished to enjoy this ambience to the accompaniment of live romantic music. The programme started at around 8.30 and continued until midnight. Guided tours from St Barbara Church in Republic Street tied to the romantic aspect of Valletta took visitors to the Upper and Lower Barrakka Gardens, St Barbara Bastion and the Victoria Gate, where the spectacle of the candlelit streets could be enjoyed in its all its splendour
