It was reported in the media that the Environment Commission of the Church declined to comment on the proposed new cemetery on the road leading to Ramla Bay because Gozo was not under its jurisdiction.

This reminds me of a story. The story goes that a priest was delivering his homily about death and heaven and hell. Then, after stirring up the parishioners, to make a show of force, he invited all who wanted to go to Heaven to stand up.

All stood up except a man at the back.

The priest, glowering, turned to him and demanded: “Don’t you want to go to Heaven?”

“Yes,” replied the man coolly.

“Then why did you not stand up?” retorted the priest.

“I am not of this parish,” was the answer.
