A 25-year-old man yesterday pleaded guilty to violently and indecently assaulting a British tourist in the lift of a Qawra hotel on Sunday afternoon.

Before Magistrate Miriam Hayman, the man, whose name cannot be published by court order, pleaded guilty to violent indecent assault on a 46-year-old British woman in a lift at a hotel in Qawra.

Defence lawyers Jason Azzopardi and Kris Busietta requested the court to appoint a probation officer to draw up a pre-sentencing inquiry report before judgement is handed down.

Magistrate Hayman acceded to this request. In the meantime, she granted the man bail against a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.
