The National Euro Changeover Committee will be distributing multilingual euro leaflets and providing training to organisations dealing with migrant groups, in a bid to ensure that the country’s refugee and migrant communities receive full access to information regarding the euro.

The leaflets will be published in the four languages migrants use most commonly – French, Arabic, Tigrenian and Amharic – and will feature information on euro notes and coins, conversions, methods of building up a scale of values, help with efficient budget management and practical information regarding euro starter kits that will be made available later on in the year.

The NECC will also be providing training on the euro to members of organisations dealing with migrant groups, so that they would be able to assist and guide refugees and migrants should they require additional information to that provided in the euro leaflets.

Commenting on the plan, NECC spokesman Melvyn Mangion said: “Our mission is to ensure a smooth and efficient changeover, and reaching out to vulnerable groups is among our various targets.

“Bearing this in mind, we have come up with tailor-made publications intended to increase awareness and knowledge on the euro. Further publications targeted at housewives are also in the final stages of completion and will be distributed in the near future.”
