A group of journalists yesterday had the opportunity to watch a preview of the Isle of MTV - Malta Special that will be aired on MTV Europe and other national MTV stations.

The concert was staged on 26 July on the Granaries in Floriana when thousands were treated to performances by Enrique Iglesias, Maroon 5 and Akon. Local acts Winter Moods and Ira Losco also shone on the night and were congratulated by the international stars.

By all means, the Isle of MTV – Malta Special was a smashing hit for those present, but the main aim behind the event is to broadcast it on MTV.

According to Culture and Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, this is a unique opportunity for the country as the broadcast is packed with suggestive aerial footage of Malta as well as two spots about Malta and the artistes' own reference to the islands.

The minister added that this event is projecting Malta to the young as the place to be, the heart of entertainment and the location where the coolest events are being organised.

The special will be aired on MTV Europe on 4 September at 7pm, 8 September at 10pm, 9 September at 10pm and on 14 September at midnight. National MTV stations will be airing it at will.

On September on MTV as well an advert promoting Malta will also debut, said the minister. The spot is currently under production and is part of the deal struck with MTV. It will run until the end of December.
