I read with interest a letter published last (TMID 11 August) titled the Indomitable Dom.

If you allow me, I wish to add my experience for those years which I would surely never forget, my opinion is very different from what was published.

I was serving in the British forces locally enlisted and on the 31st March 1979 I was made redundant. My colleagues and I were expecting alternative employment such as joining our local forces, we had the necessary experience for at least one of the corps but instead were told to call at the labour office and to leave our signatures there. I continued doing that for nearly a year.

We paid our price for Jum il Helsien, it was Helsien from work.

My second experience is related to my retirement pension.

Having been in the service I qualified for a proportional pension but on the introduction of the so called two thirds pension I lost part of my retirement pension although my contributions were to the full. This means that the department of social security does not give me what I have contributed for.

At that time the current administration said that they would remedy the situation when they would be in office, over twenty years have gone by and they have not found time for such an amendment.
