A teenager was charged yesterday with hitting a man in the eye with a bottle during an argument at the San Gwann Bocci Club on 5 August.

The 17-year-old from San Gwann, whose name cannot be published since he is still a minor, was charged with seriously injuring Carmel Spiteri during the fight.

Before magistrate Miriam Hayman, the boy pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was granted bail against a deposit of Lm800 and a personal guarantee of Lm1,000.

Police Inspectors Carmelo Abdilla and Martin Sammut prosecuted, while Dr Joseph Giglio appeared for the accused.
