A 24-year-old man was charged yesterday with assaulting the police and his own parents on Tuesday night and to slightly injuring two police officers.

Clint Tanti, from Paola, was accused of assaulting a police sergeant and two police constables in Cospicua and at Cospicua police station, slightly injuring the police sergeant and one of the constables, breaching the peace and swearing in public.

He also pleaded not guilty to assaulting his parents Josephine and Carmelo.

Mr Tanti, who appeared before magistrate Miriam Hayman, was granted bail against a deposit of Lm500 and a personal guarantee of Lm1,000. Police Inspector Alexander Grech prosecuted while Dr Duncan Borg Myatt appeared for the accused.
