Justice Minister Tonio Borg yesterday filed a libel suit against l-orizzont editor Frans Ghirxi and the Malta Labour Party over an advert that appeared in the General Workers’ Union daily newspaper.

In his libel suit, Dr Borg said he felt libelled by an advert entitled “Kumpens ta kwazi Lm70,000” (Nearly Lm70,000 compensation) published in

l-orizzont on Wednesday.

He claimed that the advert was libellous and defamatory in his regard and exposed him to public ridicule. He called on the court to declare the newspaper and the Labour Party guilty of libel and award him damages.
