PN Happy with fall in unemployment rate

Malta Independent Saturday, 25 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

Solidarjeta Haddiema PN has expressed satisfaction that the unemployment rate continued going down substantially in July, compared to July last year. This positive trend has been continuing for two years and there are now 1,800 fewer people unemployed than in 2005.

The government, it said, was creating the best economic environment for investment and for creating job opportunities. The fall in unemployment was the result of the right policies to attract investment. The Smart City investment alone would create 5,600 jobs.

The Nationalist Party, Solidarjeta Haddiema PN added, was the party of work, holding the record for job creation whenever it was in government. On the other hand, Labour’s record was in unemployment, with 1,500 more people ending up unemployed when Alfred Sant was in government.
