Sevenair, the Tunisian regional airline, will be introducing its newly delivered CRJ-900 jet aircraft, of the Canadian make Bombardier, on its Tunis-Malta service for tomorrow’s flight.

The recent change of name from Tuninter was part of a renewal strategy to give the airline a fresh look, backed by a better service.

Following the success of the CRJ-100/-200 (Canadair Regional Jet) series introduced in 1992, Bombardier went ahead with the production of two larger variations. This included the 86-seat version CRJ-900 where the wingspan is longer, and the tail is redesigned with more span. In typical service the CRJ-900 has a service ceiling of 41,000 feet, an average true airspeed of 450-500 knots and a maximum range of 1,837 miles, a significant improvement over its predecessor. The CRJ-900 made its first flight in 2002 and by June 2007 a total of 62 CRJ-900 aircraft were in airline service, with 36 further firm orders.

Sevenair at present operates two Tunis-Malta flights a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays.
