More than once he repeated it. Judge me for what I do and not for what I promised. If one comes to analyse the Prime Minister’s document before the budget we will find words of wisdom, promises that one could not but agree with.

A thin fine net for “catching” votes! Suffice to say that even the General Workers’ Union (GWU) and Unjoni Haddiema Maghqud-in (UHM) together with other organisations could not find any flaw and found this document 100 per cent positive. The Prime Minister’s capability though, lies in the fact of how many of these “sweeties” will come to materialise and when the people will actually benefit from these mentioned niceties.

It is a foul game to live four years in purgatory so that in the last final months before the general election, after we have been wrung like a floor cloth with all kinds of taxes, we are led to believe that it is time for all good things. Has one failed to remember slogans like the doctor of one’s choice, a new spring, no fear in your home, work for all and what not?

Now that the election draws near, the Prime Minister is shoving this document in front of our noses as bait for votes. As the election draws nearer and more and more menacing stories involving ministers and parliamentary secretaries are being revealed, the Nationalist Party is afraid that it will lose power.

Every beginning has an end and I hope that the majority of the Maltese will see to it that the PN’s end will come at the next election.
