Sliema made amends for last Saturday’s humiliating defeat by champions Neptunes to easily beat San Giljan 17-8 to reach the Knock-out final.
Despite Matthew Zammit’s return, San Giljan were poor against the determination of a Sliema side who won the first session 5-2 and increased their lead to six goals by the end of the second session.
San Giljan tried to close the gap in the third session but Sliema scored four further goals to practically close the match. The last session, which had little importance, ended 4-4 to make it more respectable for San Giljan.
Jonathan Valletta scored four goals for Sliema, while Vargas scored a hat-trick.
Today Sirens play champions Neptunes in the other semi-final to know next Sunday’s KO finalists.
In the other Division 2 semi-final, Marsascala 7-up beat Marsaxlokk Freeport 13-6 to reach the final.
