Work on Triq it-Tigrija in Marsa will have cost some Lm90,000 and will be completed within two weeks, said Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett. It is one of over 450 residential streets being relaid at a cost of over Lm9 million.

Some of these are not technically new roads; they had been laid before but had had such heavy use that they had suffered considerable damage and needed relaying. Similar roads were in Balzan, Tarxien, Paola, Zebbug, Rabat, Gzira and Mtarfa.

Triq it-Tigrija in Marsa is 450 metres long and lies alongside the racecourse. A storm water culvert has been built alongside it. The road is heavily used by horse owners and other people using the Marsa sports grounds facilities. It is also widely used by the mounted police, whose stables are at the end of the road.

Next in line, said Mr Mugliett, were Triq San Bernard and Triq is-Salib tal-Marsa.
