Two more matches from the Bank of Valletta Premier League will be played today as three of the four clubs will be aiming to win their first points of the new season.

Msida St Joseph’s task against champions Marsaxlokk seems to be the most difficult as the southern seasiders will be seeking a second consecutive win to push them up to the top of the standings.

In the other match, Valletta should start as clear favourites against Pieta Hotspurs, but the citizens will have to show much better form then they did in the 2-3 defeat at the hands of Floriana.

The citizens need to show better coordination at the back where the left flank was suspicious against the fast Greens’ strikers. The return of Saviour Darmanin in goal and Massimo Grima in the heart of the defence could prove to be the solution their problems.

They both missed the match against Floriana through suspension.

Pieta also lost their opener against Marsaxlokk (3-1) and will now be expected to offer a strong challenge to the citizens in an effort to gain a point at least.

On paper, they seem to be an inferior side to the citizens, but judging from their second half performance against Marsaxlokk last Wednesday, then they also could provide some anxiety for the citizens.
