Sirens Hard Rock Café will be facing Sliema McDonald's in tomorrow's Wilkinson Sword KO final at the Tal-Qroqq Pool.

In a keen and pulsating match, Sirens crushed all Neptunes' hopes of registering a double – they had earlier won the title.

The match could have gone either way but Sirens appeared to be more determined from the start and they progressed because they made the most of their goal scoring opportunities while Neptunes missed a considerable number of chances.

In the first session, Sirens enjoyed a 3-1 cushion with Juergen Borg giving them a 1-0 lead before the champions missed a man-up and a penalty through Vujasinovic. Sirens then scored twice through Clint Mercieca and Karl Montfort before Neptunes reduced the gap through a Sean Gravina goal.

In the second session, Sirens maintained the initiative and increased their lead with another two goals from Borg and captain Paul Privitera. But Neptunes hit back with two goals through Vusajinovic and Brownrigg to get back into contention.

The third session was balanced and very entertaining with a lot of goals. Neptunes played much better than in the first two sessions and ended the session 5-4 ahead to reduce the overall gap to 9-8.

Matthew Pisani, Vusajinovic, N. Lanzon (2) and Pisani scored the five Neptunes goals. Paul Fava (3) and Tamas Marcz were the scorers for Sirens.

The final session was equally balanced and it proved to be decisive. Neptunes managed to draw level through Steve Camilleri and then Vusajinovic made it 10-9 for them – the first time Neptunes were in the lead. But Sirens had other ideas. With 77 seconds left, the St Paul's Bay side equalised through Charlie Zammit and with 42 seconds to go, it was Juergen Borg who scored from the angle what proved to be the winner.
