Local FIBA Official in action in Luxembourg for European qualifier

Local international FIBA basketball referee, Bernard Vassallo was nominated to control the FIBA European senior qualifier match from Group B in Ville de Luxembourg between the hosts Luxembourg and Great Britain which was played yesterday.

The British side is vying hard to increase their level so as to field a powerful side by 2012 when the Olympic Games will be held in London.

They are presently lying in second place in the five-team Group B, two points behind joint leaders Bosnia and Portugal. On the other hand, Luxembourg were in third spot, two points behind Great Britain.

These two teams met in the first round last year in September. The game played in Cardiff had ended with a 72-60 win for the British side.

Vassallo refereed this encounter, at the newly built Centre National Sportif, together with Slovak official Milan Brziak while Joseph Hernandez will be the FIBA commissioner.
