Estonian duo Piret Reinfeld and Kadri Toom have won the 2007 edition of the Paola Hibs Candy Beach Volley tournament held on Saturday the 1st September at Pretty Bay, Birzebbugia.

The beach volley tournament was a success with a total of 13 ladies teams participating which included 3 Estonian and 3 Irish teams.

The semi finals were played between Borg Hayman and Zarb against Debono and Borg. Borg Hayman and Zarb emerged as winners thus booking their place in the finals.

The second semi finals was between the Estonians and the Irish. It seemed evident that the Estonians played a faster and stronger game and thus had no problems progressing into the finals.

The Estonians met a Maltese team, composed by Alison Borg Hayman and Gertrude Zarb in this year’s final. The Estonians, who are rated amongst the top 10 beach volley teams in the Estonian Master series, were far too strong for the Maltese who tried putting up a fight but were easily beaten in two straight sets.

Beach volley enthusiasts had the opportunity to see Reinfeld and Toom play their quick game with Toom scoring a number of precious points and effecting a number of incredible defences throughout the sets. The organisers wish to thank Candy, EF and TipToes for their help in supporting this event.
