It is the turn of Armenia this evening to provide opposition to Dusan Fitzel's national team.

The euphoria after Saturday’s very prestigious 2-2 draw with Turkey has not yet died down. Many football enthusiasts can still be heard speaking about Malta's fine performance.

Yet, the MFA and Fitzel, as well as the players, have already consigned that match to history and are now looking forward to provide local fans with another polished performance, just four days after the Turkey match.

However, there will be a difference this evening because Fitzel is expected to rotate his players in the sense – and he is right – that he will be giving space to those who did not perform against the Turks on Saturday.

In fact, this evening, one might see some changes to the team, including substitutes, at least, for Michael Mifsud, Justin Haber and George Mallia, who have been dropped from the squad for this match for various reasons.

Haber could be expected to be replaced by Mario Muscat, with Andrew Hogg possibly making a second half appearance - depending on the number of substitutes agreed upon – while Terence Scerri might be Mifsud’s substitute in attack. And while Roderick Bajada should take Mallia's place, I also expect Kevin Sammut to play instead of Jamie Pace who will be out of the next Euro 2008 match against Hungary in Budapest through injury.

Players like Josef Mifsud, Peter Pullicino, Stephen Wellman, Aaron Xuereb, Cleaven Frendo, Etienne Barbara and Andrew Cohen will all be waiting their turn to be included in the line-up at one time or another during this evening's encounter.

Armenia could prove to be very difficult opponents, given the fact that they have beaten Poland and figured in a draw with Portugal in qualifying Group A of Euro 2008.

One sincerely hopes that another large crowd will be at Ta’ Qali this evening to cheer the locals to another positive result. All those who were at Ta' Qali last Saturday must have felt very proud of being Maltese. And that was only due to the performance of the boys in red and the result obtained on the field of play. Let us all keep supporting them. They deserve it.
