The HSBC Malta National Dinghy Sailing Championships, organised by the Malta Sailing Federation, are being held on 15 and 16 September.
The event is being hosted by the Malta Young Sailors Club and sailed on the waters of St. Paul’s Bay.
Six classes of dinghies will be raced in these Championships, namely, (1a) Optimist Class Open Division, (1b) Optimist Class Cadet Division – Boys and Girls born during 1995 or later, (2) Laser 4.7 – Boys and girls born during 1988 or later, (3) Laser Radial, (4) Laser Standard Class, (5) Any other One-Design dinghy, and (6) Handicap class (PYS).
A minimum of four boats is required to form a class while only Class Dinghies conforming to class rules are eligible to race within that class. For the Laser and Optimist classes, the results of this regatta will count towards the Malta Sailing Federation National Ranking Lists.
Racing over the Championships weekend will pursue the following schedule: On both Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September the first warning signals for first race of the day, on both dates, will be given at 10.20am. Three to four races per day are planned. The Race Committee reserves the right to change this schedule for weather conditions or any other reasons.
The race office of the championships will be at the Malta Young Sailors Club, St. Paul’s Bay where details of the course to be sailed will be given in the Sailing Instructions.
