Students at St Martin’s Institute of Information Technology, a teaching Institution for the University of London, have for the fourth consecutive year achieved a high level of excellence.

A total of 28 students have graduated this year, with 14 students attaining a First Class Honours degree, and nine students attaining a Second Upper Honours with the remaining five students attaining a Second Lower Honours degree. This means that 82 per cent of the institute’s graduates this year can easily continue to read for postgraduate degrees in any of the top universities around the world.

St Martin’s past students have already embarked on MSc studies with the University of Edinburgh, University of Liverpool, Birkbeck University of London and Queen Mary University of London, apart from the University of Malta.

“St Martin’s Institute is proud to offer Maltese and international students the opportunity of reading in Malta for degrees by the University of London, a world-renowned university, with a tradition of high-quality tertiary education and research. These degrees monitored and acknowledged by the UK’s Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education [QAA],” said Charles Theuma, Principal, St Martin’s Institute of Information Technology.

Students attending St Martin’s Institute of IT sit for the same examination papers, on the same day and time in Malta as their counterparts in London. All examinations are prepared and corrected at the University of London.

“We now have a track record spanning four years of excellence, which is putting St Martin’s Institute at the forefront as a teaching institution of unquestioned excellence in its methodology.

Since 2004, an average of over 50 per cent of our students graduated with first class honours,” he said.

On the other hand, half of the institute’s Diploma students achieved a Distinction, and a further 33 per cent attained a Merit.

These students are those who are continuing with their degree from year two after proving their abilities by reading for the first year of the degree as a Diploma.

St Martin’s Institute today has 272 students, attending both full time and evening courses, reading for Diploma and Degree programmes of the University of London in business, economics, computer science, information systems and management.

A total of 63 students have graduated from St Martin’s in the past five years.
