As a frequent visitor to these islands and knowing that great efforts are being made to increase the number of holiday visitors, I was somewhat surprised to see that horse drawn carriages are allowed to drive over the newly laid stones in the Silent City of Mdina.
My wife and I have noticed how much damage has already been done. Surely if you value this historic city more should be done to protect its beauty, its importance and the culture of the period.
I have spoken to many local people living in the area, who said that regardless of the amount of complaints about the situation reported, they all seem to fall on deaf ears.
We do hope that something can be done to rectify the problem in order to protect this heritage.
