Four people were injured in a traffic accident which took place in Lija at about 5.30am yesterday; fortunately none were in a critical condition.

It is understood that the collision took place when a 20-year-old man driving an Opel Corsa lost control of the vehicle and careened onto the opposite carriageway. The Corsa slammed into an oncoming Hyundai Accent being driven by a 22-year-old.

There was a female passenger apiece in both vehicles. An ambulance rushed to the scene and took the four people to hospital where staff certified that although their injuries were serious, they were not life threatening. Investigations continue.
