The Education Ministry denied reports that it was late in submitting applications for EU funds and as a result, funds allocated to Malta were forfeited.

In fact, it added, the ministry had submitted 37 applications, 28 of which were for projects which could attract funds from the European Regional Development Fund, and nine which could draw funds from the European Social Fund.

The applications were made by the University of Malta (11), MCAST (13), four by the ETC, two by the ITS and seven by the ministry itself. All were submitted in time.
