Parking At your own risk

Malta Independent Wednesday, 19 September 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Last Thursday, my husband and I decided to run some errands in Valletta so we assumed that the most convenient way to get there was to use the park and ride service.

However, to our discontentment, after parking our three-year-old Renault Clio in one of the ample parking bays in the centre of the new parking zone (where you are obliged to pay the bus fare of 15c per person to get to the bus terminus of Valletta) for approximately three hours, we returned to find the driver’s door smashed.

This was clearly a hit and run incident and to aggravate the situation, the park and ride supervisor/conductor, who was standing in the shade across the parking area, stated to us that there are no security cameras in that new zone.

I am now rather reluctant to use the park and ride services in the future until I am assured that security cameras are installed properly in all the zones.
