Malta Independent Wednesday, 19 September 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The highlight of the celebrations of the 10th Anniversary of the foundation of the Pembroke Athleta Football Nursery was a Holy Mass celebrated by HE The Archbishop, Mgr Paul Cremona, at the Pembroke Parish Church.

After Mass, the St Michael Boys Scouts led the Parade which included the Archbishop himself followed by the Nursery children, Committee Members, coaches, guests and parents to the Pembroke Sports Club.

Among special guests present were Minister Dolores Cristina, Parliamentary Secretary Tonio Fenech and the Mayor of Pembroke Local Council, Joe Zammit, besides first team players who came through the Nursery, contributors, coaches past and present, committee members, past Nursery Presidents, MFA and YFA representatives. Parents of the nursery children participated in the event which also served for the opening of season 2007/08

The event climaxed at the Pembroke Sports Club where speeches were made for the occasion by the Nursery Administrator, the Football and Sports Club President, The Pembroke Mayor and by the Parliamentary Secretary for Finance who indicated favourable tax incentives are to be implemented by the Government in the near future for parents who send their children to such sports organisations. This was followed by presentation of a commemorative gift to the special guests.

The new Artificial Turf just installed at the Sports Club was also officially opened and blessed by the Archbishop.
