With Budget 2008 expected to be announced in the first half of October, the parliamentary secretary in the finance ministry was invited to address the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD), which met to analyse and discuss the government’s pre-Budget document.
In a brief speech to the media before addressing the council yesterday, Parliamentary Secretary Tonio Fenech said it was the first time that MCESD had met to carry out such an exercise.
He thanked those members of the council who had also submitted their comments and suggestions regarding the pre-Budget document.
Mr Fenech also mentioned the leaflets that were being distributed in each household, saying they include the main measures that the government has been planning for the forthcoming budget.
He said this was done to accelerate the consultation process in the run-up to the budget.
