Senglea mayor Joseph Casha told the Labour Party, the council would like to open to the public the two large war shelters underlying the town but they were meeting with obstacles to have the shelters devoluted to the council.

The mayor also said that development should take place at the Macina and that Senglea strand should be upgraded.

Mr Casha was speaking to MLP representatives led by party leader Alfred Sant in the party’s consultation process with communities who live round Grand Harbour, which the MLP is aiming to develop. The MLP also met voluntary organisations in the town who made the points that Senglea’s population was ageing and that Senglea was the town with the highest population density in Europe.
