WasteServ, in conjunction with young singer Thea Saliba, has issued an upbeat song entitled Waste Matters. This song, which is another in a series of initiatives by WasteServ, aims at explaining and emphasizing the educational message with regards to the environment and waste separation. Both the lyrics and the music were written by Thea Saliba, and there is also another version in Maltese called Dinja Nadifa.

The message of the song is simple – so that we agree to keep the world clean as much as we can while using everything at our disposal such as the Bring-In Sites. In fact, the lyrics of the song explain the way in which we have to use such sites, by for example using black bins for metal, plastic for blue, brown for glass and the white bins for paper. Last but not least, the song encourages its listeners to reduce, reuse and recycle.

WasteServ will also be giving the chance to Thea, always in collaboration with WasteServ, will be visiting a number of schools. By doing this, Thea will be encouraging children to separate waste intelligently whilst raising awareness so that these children start making use of Bring-In sites, which are available around the Maltese Islands. Also, Thea will be reminding the children about the importance of environment.

Thea's song is part of a project part-financed by the European Social Fund, where 28 unemployed persons where trained on how to separate waste and are now visiting households around the island explaining on how it should be done. This programme has been, to date, a success story, and during 2007 up to September, they have already visited around 15,000 families.
