To commemorate the hosting of the European Athletics Conference, which is being held between 11 and 14 October in Malta, the Local Organising Committee of the MAAA, together with the Mellieha Athletic Club, will be organising a 5Km (Open) race.

This is being held on Sunday 14 October. The race is to start at 8.30am from Bugibba Square.

It will proceed along the coast road, ‘Dawriet Il-Gzejjer’ towards the Dolmen Hotel and will continue running towards and past Fra Ben, and the Suncrest Hotel. They would continue for a further kilometre until they reach a turning point in front of Clove Court, which will take them back along the same route to Bugibba Square.

Trophies will be presented to the first three male and female athletes in the Intermediate, Junior and Open categories, as well as in each five year of the Masters’ categories.

In the case of Master athletes the change of date of their respective category is the date of the race, that is the 14 October.

A commemorative T Shirt will also be given to all those who finish the race. Applications must be received by not later than Monday 8 October.
