On 28 September at 8pm, The Armed Forces of Malta Band, under the direction of its Music Director, Lieutenant John Ivan Borg, will open this year’s season with a wide repertoire ranging from military marches to classical and popular music.

The diverse programme includes numbers by Trevor L. Sharpe, Reuben Zahra, Art Jasper and Abba, among others, promising an enjoyable evening.

The Armed Forces of Malta Band, formerly known as the Royal Malta

Artillery Band, was established at the end of the 19th century and is made up of 45 musicians. Its primary role is to perform on the Armed Forces of Malta ceremonial occasions. The band also frequently holds displays and concerts for the enjoyment of the island’s visitors and local population.

The AFM band has successfully participated in various military tattoos overseas: in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Russia.
