Thirty local councils have accepted MLP’s invitation to submit two projects that need help from the central administration to be implemented.

Addressing a press conference, Labour leader Alfred Sant said that in February, the party had invited all local councils to submit two projects that will be fast-tracked if the Labour Party is voted back into power.

Dr Sant said that in its meetings with local councils, the projects submitted were invariably good proposals that would be of benefit to their communities but needed the help and partnership of the government to be implemented.

He said that in the coming weeks, the Labour Party would be sending a letter of undertaking to these local councils pledging that in the first year of office, the Labour Party will undertake these projects.

Dr Sant said that for the undertaking of these projects, the government would accept different forms of partnerships including private-public partnerships schemes and sub-contracting.

The Labour Party also promises close monitoring during the implementation of the projects.
