The Water Services Corporation, referring to remarks by Opposition Leader Alfred Sant on Sunday, said yesterday that a contractor had decided to try to access a tunnel from a place that was not covered by a permit from the Malta Environment and Planning Authority and contrary to what was agreed beforehand with the WSC.
It said it was untrue that the WSC had given the wrong instructions to a contractor on where excavations should begin; it was untrue that WSC employees or machinery started excavations in a wrong place; and it was untrue that the digging of a tunnel was started in a wrong place.
